Regular Performances of Traditional Performing Arts

Gwangmudae Traditional Performing Arts is intended to make traditional performing arts more accessible to the general public and to support the activities of artists.

Traditional performances are staged on Gwangmudae (literally “Stage of Light”), which was a major stage for masters of performing arts and master vocalists during the enlightenment period, to present the performances of artists with years of experience.
The venue, Gwangmudae, is a historical place known as Korea’s first private theater established in 1898. It was virtually the only stage where people could see the performances of masters of the performing arts and master vocalists of the time, and it staged traditional performances that were in decline during the enlightenment period. Gwangmudae Traditional Performing Arts sheds light on the history and artistry of the traditional arts and will resonate with the audience and move their hearts.
