Emerging Gugak Experimental Stage
We support repertoire development and debut stages for emerging Korean traditional performing arts groups. We also support new artists, with various activities necessary for their growth, and foster them as future talents who will lead Korean traditional performing arts.
We select and support performing institutions in each field (instrumental music, vocal music, and Korean dance) to carry out our "Planning Program Linked with Emerging Groups and Artists”.
The selected institutions develop repertoires through mentoring and workshops for emerging groups and artists, and are solely responsible for planning and promoting their debut stages.
We further support the production of music sources/records and promotional videos for outstanding artists and their groups. We also let them upgrade their repertoire by inviting them to various festivals and performances promoted by Korean Traditional Performing Arts Foundation.
Since 2015, we have discovered and supported more than 100 new artists and their groups.
Support Open recruitment for Planning Program Linked with Emerging Groups and Artists
We select programs in each field (instrumental music, vocal music, and Korean dance) based on their proposals, which describe how to discover talented emerging artists/groups, how to support their repertoire development, and how to operate their debut stage (single performances over 1 hour). We run promotions in the first half of every year (February to April) and provide support of around 65 million Korean won per program.
