Restoring and Reenacting Korean Traditional Arts

Restoring and Reenacting Korean Traditional Arts

We provide support in building a repertoire of Korean traditional performing arts by excavating materials and conducting research and demonstrations.

We support activities to excavate, research, and demonstrate traditional art materials that are in danger of deterioration, damage, and disconnection due to rapid changes in social structure. We also support traditional arts that have sufficient future value from historical and repertoire perspectives.
Since 2007, we have discovered a total of 100 assignments and are expanding the future value of Korean traditional performing arts.

Support Contest for free assignments/designated assignments

Applicants for this projects are expected to apply for two separate fields: free assignment and designated assignment.
The contest is held in the first half of each year (March through April) and 6 to 10 works are selected for each assignment, which will be given approximately 30 million Korean won in support.

Restoring and Reenacting Korean Traditional Arts

  • Free assignment
We screen, select and support proposed Korean traditional performing arts assignments based on themes freely chosen by the applicant groups to study and demonstrate.
  • Designated assignment
The assignment planning committee will draw long-term and large-scale assignments and hold a contest to select suitable groups to carry out those assignments.
